Parking for Countdown to Downtown Music Festival
With more than 8,000 spaces located within comfortable walking distance, parking for the Countdown to Downtown free music festival and fireworks spectacular on July 28 should not be a problem, organizers said. Here is a list of parking options for festival-goers heading downtown to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Hilton Americas hotel and the expansion of the George R. Brown Convention Center:
Recommended locations
- Fannin Street garage (located between Fannin and San Jacinto Streets on Bell Avenue). Approximately 1,000 spaces in a 12-story above-ground facility. Fee: $4.
- Enron Field (Lots A, B, C on Texas Avenue between Hamilton and Bastrop). Approximately 1,850 spaces in three surface lots. Fee: $5
Note: Both sites afford a comfortable walk to the festival but are far enough from the event to help ease potential gridlock at the site.
Alternative locations
- George R. Brown Convention Center lots. Approximately 1,300 surface spaces north and south of the building. Fee: $5.
- Private lots and garages. Approximately 4,000 spaces within a four-block radius of the main stage. Fee: Varies by location and facility.
- Curbside parking. Availability of these metered spaces is extremely limited. Fee: No charge on weekend.
Additional information
Any changes in parking availability and news about street closures leading up to July 28 will be posted at www.downtownstreets.com.
